My Blogging Story

My journey online started much longer before I starting blogging. Before I started blogging on MkAkan Dot Com (pronounced as em kay Akan from the first few letters from my names), I had started some other experimental blogs. I started some blogs on blogspot.com and later I started the funny Nigerian blog . I made a few post on the blog but realized there was a problem with the business model of the blog and the niche.

I was planning on only making money from Google Adsense adverts.

Not too long after that I started publishing Fastclick, a magazine to help educate Nigerians on how to use the internet effectively, efficiently and honestly. We are presently growing slowly.

I started a blog/website for it too at www.FastClickng.com .

In December 2009, I started MkAkan Dot Com and made my first post sharing 2 e-books about blogging. I shared the Knowledge I had learnt from my first blogging experience.

Not too long after that I decided to have a posting schedule and plan for my blog.

So from there I have now written a total of 50 blog posts.

Now, 50 posts may not be a great achievement but it is how far I have gone.

The Purpose Of This Blog Post

This post is a recap of all the posts I have made, all what I have done ,all what I have learnt ,all my achievements ,all my failure ,all they lessons  learnt from my first 50 posts on Mk Akan Dot com which is just almost 5 months old. I will also discuss my future plans for the blog.

Lessons from My First 50 Posts

I have learnt a great deal in the last 4 months online. 65 lessons from blogging was just a post that summarized them. Some very important things I have learnt and done are;

1. Build Relationships

I have built relationship with people all over the web. The main reason I make guest post on some blogs is to start a relationship with the bloggers.

I have guest posted on blogs with PR 0 to PR 6. I do not always border about dofollow, nofollow or PR.

2. Blog commenting

I also made comments on other blogs to build relationship with other bloggers.

My plan was to make at least 2 comments every day (a very small and achievable number) sadly, I have not lived up to it.

3. Guest Posting

This is one of the best ways to build relationships, traffic, authority and trust. I have guest posted on almost 10 blogs. I will be making a post on that soon.

My Blog Achievements

Comments: over 230 comments have been made on my blog making it an average of over 4 comments per post.

Guest Posts: I have also made 10 guest posts on other blogs during this period making it an average of 2.5 every month.

This is a little below what I planned for my blog.

Back links: I have over 160 external back links and growing.

I need to automate or outsource my social bookmarking activities to help with backlinks.

Page Rank: My blog is a Page Rank 2

I am aiming for at least a Page Rank 4 before the end of this year.

4.   Google organic search (low but growing)

My Plans For The Future

I will be trying new ideas and projects on my blog.

I will continue with guest posting and blog commenting but will join some forums and get involved in the community to improve traffic to my blog.

I have been researching types of blog posts bloggers can make on their blogs, so my next 50 blog posts will be a blog project where I will be revealing all my findings.

The blog project or series will be called Blog Content Development Guide.

After the blog project I will make a product out of the research, inputs and ideas made from the blog project.

This is a summary of how far and how far I am going in the future.
