It’s a very good advice and a popular one that you should desist from blogging about a topic you know nothing of. This prevents me and you from exposing our ignorant as in the public web.
But there is way of writing about a topic your know nothing of and still look like a pro. There is a way and it is not magic.
How to Do It
It is writing about your experience on the topic. Not your experience as the doer but your experience as the receiver. Talk about your experience of one at the receiving end.
For Example
Sometime ago, I wrote a post on how to get your e-mails opened by subscribers- I was writing on e-mail marketing. I wrote as one in the receiving end.
Now I am not a pro at email marketing or anything but the responses and votes I got on that article proved that my post made sense.
All I noticed was that some things the marketers did worked (it made me open the mails) on me, and some didn’t. This is what I noticed and outlined in the post. This came from my experience on the receiving end.
I learnt how to go about email marketing from the experience I had from the receiving end. You can do same with other topics.
How to Do It
When you want to write about topic you know nothing of, ask yourself these questions:
- What is the action that am supposed to take to make this works for the other party?
For example a sales page is to sell you, if you buy, find out what really made you buy. If you didn’t, find out why.
A title is supposed to attract you to click or open a post, if it works on you. Find out how and why.
If it didn’t, find out why?
Take what you find out and make a blog post about it.
BOTTOM LINE
Write about your experience on the topic at the receiving end. That’s it.
Please hit me, with your comments and opinion. We all love to read them. Thank you.
