In the last few weeks, I have been to over 20 events (no kidding). Great events where, I have leant a lot about blogging, marketing and SEO. In These entire events, I listened to the main speakers and other speakers from the audience who made 1-5 minutes speeches .. Some congratulated the main speaker, some added new ideas, some agreed with the speaker. Some just said something lame.

In some of these events I met very interesting speakers who really knew their onions and some who were just there. I also met well enlightened members of the audience who gave wonderful 1-5 minutes speeches. But there was a dude from the audience who wore an afro. I met him in 3 events. These events had different themes and topic but this dude always had something great to say. Something that was helpful to the other members of the audience. He even argued some points with the main speaker. Not just lame arguments but great interesting points. By the 5th time I saw him in another event and he gave another one of this great speakers, I knew one thing, I had to go to this event.

The next day, I went to his event. I was an interesting one. People who watched him from all the events he stood up and gave 1-5 minutes speeches, all came to his own events. They all come to hear what he had to say. At the end of the event we were all glad we came.

The Lesson From This Story

Firstly, your blog is your event and you are the main speaker. Any one who comments on your blog is the member of the audience who does a 1-5 minute speech.

The question is, are you the member of the audience who shots up, or one that makes a 1-5 minutes speech? If you do give a speech, what do you say? Do you just say something lame? Or are like the afro dude who always had something great to say? Something that got him noticed by me and other member of the audience?.

When you consistently make comments that get you noticed on other blogs, you make people click on the link on the blog. They want to come to your event. And since you were a great 1-5 minute speaker you will surely not disappoint.

Bottom line:

give a great speech wherever you can. It gets people to come to your event.
