I definitely agree on these points. I can say, without a doubt, when I really started to get out there and post comments and try to spark conversation, my own traffic increased. The two are directly related.

And as you say, the comments have to have something to them, not just “Nice Work”. There’s nothing worse than an article that has 20 comments that are all two word responses, haha.

I like the fact that you said commenting opens you up to bigger things. It sure does.

Commenting also make you think deeply before you type anything as your comments create a perception of who you are in other readers’ minds and you only have one chance to make a good impression.
