This is the last post for my first blog project.I decided to create a question and answer type of post where I planned ask 50 bloggers to reveal where and how they get blog post ideas. After getting up to 10 replies ,i decided to cut the number of respondent. The post would be tool long and maybe boring . In the whole, 12 bloggers replied with great insighful information.
1.
Daniel Scocco-a Problogger who runs DailyBlogTips.com ,a popular blog on blogging tips, had this to say:
“Post ideas come to me in all situations, so what I make sure is to write them down as soon as possible. The times I didn’t do this I just forgot the idea. If somehow I struggle to get new ideas on a certain period, then I just reach out to other media (e.g., print magazines and newspapers), to see what kind of content they are publishing, and how I could adapt those into my blog”
2.
Chukwudi ,a friend and fellow Nigerian blogger of striclyonline biz a blog about wordpress tips and making money online for Nigerians sent in a long one :
When I first started StrictlyOnlineBiz, I based my posts on making money online only as that was the main focus of the site then. I was quite easy to get post ideas as I was subscribed to tons of internetmarketers. I was fundamentally promoting the best of free reports on making money online.
As time went on, I started looking @ better ways of promoting,
monetizing my site and making it look better. I started to learn quite a lot about wordpress, blogging tips etc thanks to Google and my RSS reader with over 60 feeds.I started getting post ideas from reading other people’s stuff. Most times I’d try out what I had learned from a particular blog and if it didn’t work for me, I’d look for a way of fixing it and when I finally did, I blogged about it.
When I find a new fabulous plug-in, product, wordpress hack, news worthy info etc I blog about it.
Basically I get post ideas from reading A LOT and learning from my
mistakes and others mistakes.
3.James Tayo of entreprenuer blogr ,a blog about online marketing sent :
I get my ideas just by being observant. I write about Marketing andProduct Development Tips for Entrepreneurs so anytime I am in an interesting situation that can fit into an analogy, I write it down on my phone and keep it in a file for the future.
As an example, as I was watching a movie called “The Joneses”, I got some ideas on how the characters used Stealth Marketing to sell products and wrote a post about it on how entrepreneurs can adapt the concepts to market their own products. This is the link to the post

4. Tony from Nigerian Entreprenuer wrote in:
I actually get my blog topic from different sources. Here are few I can easily recollect:
1. Inspiration from current happenings in the business world (for example that was what motivated me to posts about Nigerians coping with the Global Economic Crisis).
2. Inspiration from websites that I visit.
3. Anger about dubious practices of con-artists.
4. Ideas that I stumble upon that can help small business owners.
All the above can take place at anytime. Sometimes I get blog ideas while browsing. At other times, while going about my daily activities offfline.
5.
Paul Cunningham from blogging teacher ,a blog on blogging tips revealed that ;
I get my ideas from three main streams:
1. Problems people are having – I discover these through forums, social networks, and direct email contact with my readers.
2. Problems I am having – anything that I encounter when I am trying to achieve something, especially if I can’t find good information out there about it already
3. Previous posts that were well recieved – if one of my blog posts gets a strong response I will use it to generate some further ideas in the same topic area.
6.
Kiesha from weblogbetter a blog about blogging tips sent in this:
I get most of my ideas from questions I’ve had or problems I’ve experienced. Whenever I solve the problem, I like to share it via a blog post. I also like to compare my life experiences to blogging in new and unusual ways. That’s the best way to create fresh content since no one else shares my same mix of circumstances. It makes for a more intriguing read.

Devesh sharma from technshare , a blog about making money online and blogging tips sent in this reply:
“When i first started blogging, i was not getting any ideas on what to write…!! That time i started doing interviews and it was pretty successful.
Then One day i stop doing all this and started writing some useful articles.
I get inspiration from comments , forums, television, articles.etc.The most obvious is that when taking inspiration from similar mediums, there’s a fine line between “inspired by” and “copied”.
8. Dana from letupdate.com , a blogging tips blog had this to say:
Do blog walking to tend of blog in my niche and read all of their articles and also the entire comments. This way usually give more than one blog post idea. If it still do not work, I will try to find the idea at google trends or at twitter trends.
9.Dele Onibalusi , a young blogger and entrepreneur from younprepro a blog where he shares tips for online success replied;
I get my blog post ideas by inspiration mostly built up by the large number of blogs I read. I can be doing something else, then suddenly I will get an idea for a blog post, the next thing I will do is to research it well in Google to get my points, after that I will now expand on it based on what I know/my blogging experience.
10.
Glen , owns viperchill ,one of my favorite blogs about internet marketing and viral marketing. It is definitely a blog to check out,he sent in a short piece:
Most of my ideas come from personal experiences and things I’ve gone through myself. Usually the ideas will come to me when I’m doing something totally unrelated to the topic, like when I’m in the shower or walking with friends.
11.
Fazreen from Fazreen.com a blog about making money online sent this in;
Here is my way on how to get ideas for blog posts.
1) Reading and doing some research is the most method that I use to get blog post ideas. Usually I will jot down the ideas in my logbook..sort of..so I can review back what I have read..from there I will generate more ideas and contents for blog posts.
2) Another method that I use is to look at myself and I will think how can I write blog posts based on my experience. People love real stories that can motivate them.
12.
Rob Rammuny from Robswebtips ,a blog about internet entrepreneur’s guide to living the internet lifestyle sent in ;
The post idea’s I come up with come from inspiration. Whether it would be from a stirred up call with my buddies where we got into a intense conversation, or whether it would be from something I was inspired by during the day that I could relate to blogging. Also, some of my other post ideas come from building off my old ones. For example, if I wrote a post on “How to be a rock-star affiliate marketer” I would write an additional post called “10 more tips to becoming a rock star affiliate marketer”.
I want to thank every blogger who responded and contributed to this post
and even those who could not for one reason or the order respond in time.
Thank you all.
I will be doing more of this kind of posts and other projects with you all .
Thanks again.
If you could not contribute and would love to do so.
Please add your own ways of getting blog post ideas in the comment.
Don’t forget to tweet this post.
I will be releasing an e-book about my first blog project so stay tuned.

Nice collection of tips there. Definitely one of the most important ones is to record ideas as soon as they come to you. Like Daniel I’ve forgotten a lot of ideas over the years by not writing them down.
Paul,
blog post ideas can come from anything ..therefor it pays to have a recording device,a book, paper, phone or anything at all near by….i always carry a pen and paper with me just for this reason.
Thanks for including mine. This is a great list indeed and I can learn a lot from it.
Most times I’m lucky to have my laptop around when I get a post idea. I simply fire up my Windows Live Writer and type out a title and a few lines so I don’t forget what the idea was all about when next I revisit it
Great list man
it always makes sense to have something to record your ideas with whenever you have them.it could be a cell phone ,a pen and paper …etc
thanks for contributing..
A great list you have here. I have quite some new ideas from reading how other bloggers get their inspiration to blog. Thanks for including mine. Cheers.
Wow! Really great ideas from a lot of probloggers!
Thanks so much for sharing this great post,
-Onibalusi
Dele,
thanks for contributing too…
Hey MK, thanks for including me and sharing this post. Great initiative from you. It’s interesting to see that a lot of bloggers use the same tactic of writing down their ideas as they get them. I guess it’s a universal thing
hey James,
thanks for contributing too.
writing down ideas as you get them really works..this should prove that for sure.
My blog is about my life in dialysis and my experiences in treatment suffices ideas for blog posts. Though this article is quite helpful, especially for budding bloggers like me.
Simply awesome
you have a great list here. expecting more posts like this bro.
Cheers.
I do love to create some thing new always. But that is not possible all the time. I follow some famous blogs. Read what they are writing and try to write their idea from different angle.
Well,Tanmay,
there is really nothing wrong with that only that sometimes ,a lot of people may be doing the same thing you are doing.
but as long as your articles are helpful to someone,it is okay.
emm..cool. I love to read that all post ideas. I hope i can make better post next time.
